CW-DTS-WAV 1.0.1.0
Exact Audio Copy DTS-CD setup
Cole Williams Software Limited

OVERVIEW
========

CW-DTS-WAV is a specialist DTS-in-WAV / DTS-CD extraction and decoding tool.

The recommended EAC profile decodes a bit-perfect DTS-CD carrier to
multichannel 24-bit FLAC.

EAC CONFIGURATION
=================

Open:

  EAC -> Compression Options -> External Compression

Use the following settings:

  Use external program for compression:
    Enabled

  Parameter passing scheme:
    User Defined Encoder

  Use file extension:
    .flac

  Program, including path, used for compression:
    Point this to cw-dts-wav.exe

Typical EAC Codecs installation:

    C:\Program Files (x86)\Exact Audio Copy\Encoders\cw-dts-wav.exe

  Additional command-line options:

    --eac --title "%title%" --artist "%artist%" --album "%albumtitle%" --album-artist "%albumartist%" --date "%year%" --track "%tracknr%" --tracktotal "%numtracks%" --genre "%genre%" "%source%" "%dest%"

  Bit rate:
    Not used / command-line controlled

  Delete WAV after compression:
    Enabled

  Use CRC check:
    Disabled

  Add ID3 tag:
    Disabled

  Check for external programs return code:
    Enabled

IMPORTANT: KEEP THE DTS-CD RIP BIT-PERFECT
==========================================

Do not apply:

  - Normalisation
  - Volume adjustment
  - DSP
  - Resampling
  - Fades
  - Lossy encoding
  - Any processing that changes PCM sample values

A DTS-CD track normally appears as 44.1 kHz, 16-bit stereo PCM even though the
sample words contain DTS data. Altering those sample values can corrupt the DTS
bitstream.

DIRECT EAC INTEGRATION
======================

--eac implies --overwrite and --quiet and verifies that EAC's requested
destination file was created and is non-empty.

If conversion fails, an incomplete EAC output is removed.

FLAC TAGGING
============

Leave EAC's separate "Add ID3 tag" option disabled.

CW-DTS-WAV writes FLAC-native Vorbis comments itself.

DTS-CD WORKFLOW
===============

For manual verification or specialist use:

1. Rip the DTS-CD track to WAV without processing.

2. Scan the rip:

     cw-dts-wav.exe --scan "Track 01.wav"

3. Decode to multichannel FLAC:

     cw-dts-wav.exe "Track 01.wav" "Track 01.flac"

4. Or extract the compressed DTS stream:

     cw-dts-wav.exe "Track 01.wav" "Track 01.dts"

LOSSLESS DTS EXTRACTION
=======================

For supported DTS-in-WAV material, .dts output is an extraction/normalisation
operation rather than a decode/re-encode operation.
